In front of you, there is the artist’s last piece of work which has been exhibited publicly. She claimed that artworks lost most of their values when exposed to public commentary. It is said that she continued to make art afterwards. Her nanny recalled that her domicile was filled with newly made works. However, none of these had ever got the chance to hear any praise from an audience. When the great war broke out, the artist fled the country to find safe refuge. Her cottage was bombed during an air raid, with all the works left in it.

This exquisite, stunning, radiant, alluring piece of work, is one of the serial works entitled Dedicated to the perfection of perfection. The artist claims that he has made the perfect artwork, and the only way to preserve its perfection, is to keep it away from the evil gaze of the public. Thus, to demonstrate the perfection of it, he has made other thirteen hundred marvelous pieces of works, which are described by himself, as ‘less perfect than one ten-thousandth of its perfection’.

Here, the spectacular image we see, is produced by the artist according to the recordation of a long-lost masterpiece, which is created by a court painter one thousand years ago. The masterpiece depicted the scene of a lost poem written 2000 years ago, by an ancient emperor, telling about his dream of encountering the graceful goddess of river. Today, we learn about this masterpiece only from the recordation of Celestial Emporium of Benevolent Knowledge, a book which is lost as well.

Through the glass case, there lies a small pile of ashes which is hundreds of years old. The most famous painter at that time, drew his noble lover’s nude on a piece of parchment, as the token of affection. The parchment was given to the noble lady by her maid, whose cousin was a friend of the painter’s. As the painter had asked, his noble lover burnt the drawing to keep their forbidden love in secret.

Beside the glass case, there is another pile of ashes in a code case. The code case was originally exhibited in the gallery and locked up. The artist gave the password solely to her girlfriend, and told her that once the code case was open, a certain mechanism would be triggered to burn down what was place inside the case. Her girlfriend got a burn on her finger accidentally.
